Position Overview
As the operational leader of the district, you’ll be responsible for driving growth, building relationships, and delivering results that align with Scouting America’s philosophy, mission, and annual goals. You’ll:
- Growing youth and adult membership
- Lead fundraising campaigns and secure local support
- Recruit, train, and empower volunteers
- Oversee the delivery of quality Scouting programs through local partners
- Serve as a liaison between the community and council, accepting full responsibility for the success of the district
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with current partners
- Survey and support institutional heads to meet their unique needs
- Identify and secure new partners to expand local Scouting
Volunteer Leadership & Management
- Recruit and train volunteers for area committee and volunteer staff
- Serve as a motivator, coach, and manager for the area leadership team
- Coordinate the area nominating committee and succession planning
Membership Recruitment
- Implement counyt-wide membership plans for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturers
- Increase overall unit numbers and reduce year-over-year drop rates
- Promote balance and growth across all program levels
Fundraising – Friends of Scouting
- Lead the area Friends of Scouting campaign, managing volunteers, strategy, and follow-through
- Increase both total donations and donor count from the previous year
Product Sales – Popcorn & Camp Card Campaign
- Direct the County Popcorn & Camp Card Campaign, increasing participation and sales
- Recruit units and provide tools and motivation to drive success
Program Delivery
- Oversee budgeting and planning of area activities
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, mission-driven programs and outdoor adventures
- Promote advancement and training, and increase participation in council camps
Unit Service
- Recruit and manage area Volunteers
- Ensure timely and effective yearly registration
- Deliver meaningful experiences and support unit health
Other Duties
- Assist with special projects and tasks as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Prior success & experience in nonprofit, sales, or youth development
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
- Confidence in public speaking and working with corporate and civic leaders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Strategic thinker with solid organizational and problem-solving skills
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, online applications)
- Strong ethical standards and confidentiality
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older
- Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed
- Ability to travel annually for training (1–2 weeks)
- Must pass background checks (criminal, MVR, reference)
- Commitment to the Scout Oath and Law
- Must be Fluent in Spanish (desired)
PAY & BENEFITS:
$30.00-35.00 per hour based on experience
