Vision
It is the vision of the Ventura County Council to be regarded by the communities we serve as the premier provider of youth character development achieving the mission of the Boy Scouts of America. We will positively impact our local neighborhoods by recruiting and equipping deeply involved chartered organizations and adult leaders at all levels who build values, skills and leadership in our youth. Through Scouting we will fully prepare leaders whose values will have a profound impact on the community.
Mission
The mission of the Ventura County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Ventura County Council currently has over 4,500 youth served, including non-Scouts, 779 adult leaders, and we send over 5,000 kids to camp each year.
Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Scout Law
A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
Purpose
We provide educational programs for youth and young adults that build character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Since our founding in 1921, the Ventura County Council has brought its purpose and values to thousands of youth. The Scouting program facilitates meaningful contact and communication between youth, parents, and other community organizations (partners) to help young people adopt strong values and life skills.
The program presents fun, engaging, and valuable experiences directed at the maturity and interests of the young people at their appropriate age and ability levels.
